Is the ksd301 thermostat bad?

Use a multimeter to measure two terminals. Generally, the contacts of this switch are connected at room temperature. For the switch at 100 °C, heat it with hot water of the corresponding temperature. The temperature control switch above 100 °C can be heated by a soldering iron. After the temperature is gone, the temperature control switch can be normally disconnected. After the temperature drops, the connection can be restored. This temperature control switch is good.

In the case of normal temperature, use a multimeter to measure it should be energized, then use a fire to burn it. After hearing the sound, use a multimeter to measure it should be disconnected. When the appliance is working normally, the bimetal is in a free state and the contacts are in a closed/disconnected state. When the temperature reaches the operating temperature, the bimetal is heated to generate internal stress and acts quickly. Open/close the contact and cut/close the circuit to control the temperature. When the appliance cools to the reset temperature, the contacts automatically close/open and return to normal operation.

The quality of the temperature controller is to see if it can be turned on (off) at the marked temperature. The automatic disconnect type KSD301 is used on the water dispenser. Install the KSD301 thermostat close to the water tank. When the water temperature reaches 97 °C, the two contacts in the thermostat are separated, and the power supply connected to the two pins is disconnected to stop heating.

Checking whether the thermostat is good or bad is to detect whether the contact bounce can occur (open circuit) under the marked temperature (working point). When the factory leaves the factory, all the thermostats are placed in the large oven and the power is turned on. The temperature is turned off by the temperature rise, which is the working point of the thermostat. If you want to detect it yourself, you can touch the lower part of the thermostat to a heated object (hot water). Connect the DC path to both ends of the pin (10v), then pay attention to the hot water temperature and see if it breaks when you see 97 degrees. Generally ± 5 degrees is acceptable.
The working principle is the same for all mechanical thermostats. The core is a bimetal, that is, a metal piece that is pressed together by two pieces of metal sheets with different thermal deformation coefficients. When the temperature rises, the one piece with a large deformation is larger than the other piece, so the whole is bent, and the opening and closing of the upper and lower contacts are controlled, thereby controlling the circuit to be turned on and off.
